General Legal Questions

How do I pay for an attorney?
Our firm follows the rules established by The Florida Bar. Our attorneys discuss prospective charges during the first meeting with our clients. Once agreed upon, the charges will be documented in writing as part of the contract. The contract will state what percentage of the recovery the attorney may keep, other expenses which will be deducted from the recovery and how these expenses will be deducted. Baker, Zimmerman & Perez works on contingency basis, meaning that the firm will not get paid any fees unless we win your case. However, you will be charged for costs such as court filing fees or expenses paid to witnesses. If you win, these expenses may be deducted from your share of the recovery. You will have to pay these costs, even if you lose your case, unless your contract specifically says that you do not owe the costs if you lose.

Who will work on my case?
At Baker, Zimmerman & Perez we believe in a team approach, which typically includes an assigned attorney, as well as a paralegal and legal assistant to ensure that all cases have appropriate personnel focused on the goal at hand. We also strongly believe that the key to a successful attorney/client relationship is communication. We pride ourselves in keeping our clients informed as to the progress of their cases and making ourselves available whenever necessary.

Our lawyers are equipped with state of the art technology as well as access to the most highly trained experts. We maintain relationships with nationally known experts in fields such as medicine, engineering and economics to ensure that all of our cases are meticulously prepared.
